Head of the South 2015

WM Rowing

This past weekend, November 14th, the team travelled to Augusta, GA to compete in the Head of the South regatta hosted by the Augusta Rowing Club. It was a great regatta to end our fall season with, as it provided strong competition for both our varsity and novice teams.

We travelled Friday afternoon to race Saturday morning on the Savannah river which separates South Carolina and Georgia. The course is split so rowers row up to the start in Georgia but actually race in South Carolina. Saturday night the team was able to explore a little bit of what the Augusta cuisine had to offer and ate at restaurants ranging from authentic Mexican to classic southern comfort food.

The currents were strong on the race course and caused interesting racing conditions

Results are as follows

Men's Championship 1x- William Meeker 2nd 17:18.9
